-Changes-
Version 2.1.22
December 23, 2006
To be more compatible with newer versions of the SmartHome Device Manager (SDM) every call to change a device state is repeated up to five times if no change is detected. This should make up for the sometimes ignored commands using an SDM version > 235.
The Off and On buttons now use the Fast parameter. If you want to ramp the light (use the last ramp rate used) select a level (off and on are levels) on the slider and use Set Level.
Version 2.1.16
Device Manager 278 works intermittently with Device Controller.
Version 2.1.15
Device Controller now sorts devices by rooms.
Version 2.1.14
I changed Group Commander to refer to responders instead of devices which required a change in Device Controller to read the GCII responders file.
Device Controller now checks for version 235 of the Device Manager as newer (262, 268) versions are broken.
Version 2.1.13
Hmmm…
Version 2.1.12
I added rooms to Device Controller. This will make it easier to name and select devices.
Device Controller can exchange data files with Group Commander II.
Version 2.1.03
Stupidly had an older version of Group Controller in the install program.
Version 2.1.01
Squashed a bug that would hang the program when the connection to the PLC did not exist.
Version 2.100
Device Controller now includes Group Controller.
Fixed a few small bugs and enhanced some features.
-Premise-
Device Controller was written to be a small program you can quickly run on your Windows PC. Device Controller will allow you to read and write Insteon device states. Originally written as a way to set one lamp level from a list of lights, Device Controller now (hopefully) knows if a device is a switch or a dimmable device.
I began writing Device Controller after my wife complained about not being able to control a light I had on an Insteon module that was timed to be off on weekdays. She took a day off of work and wanted to turn on some lights that have no obvious local control. It only took me a few hours to devise a functional program. I have been adding additional features and a lot of error checking since then.
I hope a lot of Insteon users will find this program useful.
